PE Central Website

The PE Central website is a website made for physical education and health teachers and professionals. The website includes assessment ideas, lesson plans, job opportunities, research in the field of physical education, products you can purchase, and various things that a teacher may want or need. I have personally used this website when making lesson plans for many of my classes. PE Central has some great ideas for integrating other subjects into the PE or Health curriculum. They do not state what Michigan PE standards the lesson meets. The home page of the website, however, is quite overwhelming. At the top of the page, which is where I do my navigation, there are different areas to navigate. The navigation bar at the top is red with white text and is easy to miss because it is small. Along the sides are advertisements, and the middle portion has a short explanation of the website and a Google search engine to help people find what they are looking for. The Google search box is also located at the top right corner of the home page, and below the middle portion of the page. The middle portion is white with blue text. The text that explains the website is a bit small, and the blue navigation text is slightly bigger and easier to read. At the bottom of PE Centrals home page is three columns: Kids Quote of the Week, Cartoon of the Week, and Editors Choice. I enjoy the PE cartoons and the Editors choice, which includes NASPE activity calenders. NASPE stands for National Association for Sport and Education and is very important to PE majors/teachers/professionals because they make the standards that us teachers have to meet and the standards that our students need to meet, along with our curriculum and assessments. At the very bottom of the page is where the contact information for PE Central is: fax, address, email, and phone number. I know I mentioned a lot of what I didn't like about the page so let me say that this website is a great tool for teachers, especially beginning teachers who need ideas.
